Musician and entrepreneur Jay-Z is facing a lawsuit over the alleged rape of a minor at an after-party event in 2000.
NBC News reported over the weekend that an accuser, identified only as “Jane Doe,” claimed that she was assaulted by Jay-Z whose real name is Shawn Carter, and producer Diddy whose name is Sean Combs, when she was 13.
The lawsuit filed through lawyer Tony Buzbee claimed that the plaintiff was driven to an MTV Video Music Awards after party and enjoyed a few drinks. When she began to feel dizzy after consuming a drink, she wandered into a nearby bedroom where Jay-Z and Diddy allegedly raped her.
The woman claimed she hit Diddy and ran out of the party.
Buzbee originally filed the lawsuit in October this year and refiled an updated version last Sunday to add Jay-Z into the names accused.
Jay-Z, husband of star singer Beyonce, called the allegations “idiotic” and said that Buzbee was engaged in an unprofessional behavior. He was the first celebrity accused of sexual assault in connection to Combs.
In a statement to CNN, Jay-Z said the allegations were heinous in nature, accusing Buzbee and his company of shamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant amount of money or else publicly file wildly false horrific allegations against him.
“These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case,” he said, adding that he and Beyonce will discuss the charges with their children.
“I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age,” he said.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff’s attorneys reached out to Jay-Z to request a mediation to resolve the matter.
“Upon present information and belief, Jay-Z responded to said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit, but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying and intimidation against Plaintiff’s lawyers, their families, employees and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein. This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and to discredit her counsel. That effort failed. Indeed, Plaintiff chose to file this amendment as a result of the egregious conduct perpetuated by Carter,” the lawsuit was quoted.
“The pleading speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court,” Buzbee added.
The recent lawsuit marks as Buzbee’s sixth charge filed against high-profile individuals in recent months, all withholding their complainants’ names.
