Lauren Johnson, Senior Advisor, worked as a public defender in Washington, D.C. for seven years. As a trial attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia (PDS), she represented clients charged with serious felonies in D.C. Superior Court. While at PDS, Lauren led trainings and trial advocacy groups for law students and other advocates; she was also a member of the Forensic Practice Group. Prior to joining PDS, Lauren was an E. Barrett Prettyman Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center. There she represented clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies, and supervised third year law students in the Criminal Justice Clinic. Lauren is an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law School, focusing on trial advocacy and public interest lawyering. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and her JD from NYU Law.
